Amidst all the possible panic attack treatments, the natural ones can be broken down to two fronts. The first is mental; the second is physical. By improving from one of these angles, you will also become stronger in the other. Today you'll learn how to use both angles of attack fully to squelch your anxiety attacks.
There is a profound connection between the mind and the body. When you are thinking emotionally, your body will respond proportionally. Health problems are caused by darker emotions. You can see the effects instantly. Your body will tense when you think of something stressful, which is partly why stressed people tend to have less energy.
You can also "trick" your mind into feeling a certain emotion. When you use your body as you would when you feel a certain emotion, you will begin to feel that emotion. "Down" is how people commonly describe someone who is depressed as they use their body in this fashion. If you are slumped, breathing shallowly, frowning, and looking down you will feel depressed. Just flip that to experience happiness. When using your body like this properly, it is impossible to feel any other way. So if you find yourself stressed, make sure to take inventory of how you are using your body and correct it.
You can more passively improve how you feel physically as well. By passive I mean the benefits you reap from the actions you take will last longer. There are three points under this being exercise, diet, and sleep.
When you exercise, endorphins are released, tension reduced, and there are many other short and long term benefits. You'll be less stressed when you do this regularly. Your body won't be as responsive if you have a poor diet, but most already know this. Few people know that panic attacks can actually be caused by substances like caffeine, alcohol, and sleeping pills. Sleep directly reduces tension by allowing the body to recover, and indirectly reduces stress as you will become more mentally prepared to take on your day when you get enough rest.
Panic attacks are truly caused by what goes on in your mind though. Remember that it is not events that shape your thoughts, but rather your thoughts that shape events. By changing your patterns of thought that lead to stress you are removing panic attacks and giving yourself a better life overall.
Thought patterns can be set off by events, but the questions you ask yourself on a regular basis is what shapes those patterns in the first place. Since questions direct focus, the primary set of questions a panic attack sufferer asks will be far different from someone who leads a relaxed life. If you experience panic attacks, the major questions you ask yourself repeatedly are most likely limited in scope or they imply failure. "How can I enjoy this experience and contribute something amazing to it," is superior to "How can I make it through this," which is much better than "Can I get through this?" You will enjoy a much happier and more successful life if you ask powerful questions that imply your ability to succeed.
